Robot Dog Shipping Costs and Delivery, Explained

Why robot dogs don’t ship like phone cases

A robot dog is heavy, bulky, and powered by a large lithium battery. A Go2 weighs about 15 kg with a battery of roughly 237 Wh (the long-life pack is about 432 Wh). Air rules restrict lithium batteries above 100 Wh, and loose spare batteries are cargo-aircraft-only at limited charge — so most robot dogs travel as dangerous-goods (DG) freight, by cargo air or sea, with paperwork a normal parcel never needs. That is the single biggest reason shipping is quoted per order instead of printed at checkout.

What actually decides your shipping cost

DDP and DAP, in plain words

With DDP (Delivered Duty Paid), the seller arranges delivery with import duties handled — the total you confirm is the total you pay. With DAP, you pay any import duties and taxes to the carrier or customs on arrival. DDP is not available for every product and destination, which is why we confirm the basis for your specific order in writing, before payment, instead of promising it site-wide.

How ordering and delivery work at PupRobot

You place an order or a quote request — no payment is taken at that point. We reply by email with the configuration, the freight method we can actually book, the delivery estimate for that route, and the final total on a stated DDP or DAP basis. You pay only after accepting that email. After dispatch you receive tracking. If we cannot serve your destination for a particular model, the email says so before any money moves.

Accessories ship differently

Small electronics without large batteries are simpler, but loose Go2 batteries are still dangerous goods even though they are “just accessories”. The charging dock and LiDAR sit in between. Each accessory page states its position, and the confirmation email gives the combined freight when you order several items together.

Questions we hear often

Why can’t the checkout just show a shipping price? Because a wrong instant number is worse than an honest confirmed one: DG freight to your exact postcode cannot be priced responsibly by a flat table.

Can you ship to my country? For most destinations, yes — the confirmation email verifies it for your model before payment.

How long will it take? It depends on the freight method and destination, so we quote the estimate for your route in the confirmation email rather than printing a site-wide promise we cannot keep.

Is “free shipping” on other sites real? It usually means the freight is inside a higher product price, or that a small-print shipping charge appears later. Compare landed totals.
